SIASS, Covert Investigators? Never Heard of Them

Perfect. That’s just how we like it.
In the world of professional private investigation, visibility is not a virtue. Discretion, on the other hand, is everything. At SIASS, our commitment to confidentiality, subtlety and covert practice defines who we are—and more importantly, how we succeed.
You won’t find photos of our investigators online. You won’t stumble across boastful case studies or tabloid stories bearing our name. Even when providing evidence in court, we do so with relative anonymity. We don't name drop celebrity or prestigious corporate clients. We don’t pose in fedoras or lean on whisky bottles in moody lighting for marketing shots either! We don’t need to. Our work speaks for itself—even if we rarely speak about our work.

Covert Investigators Means Covert
At SIASS, we believe private investigations should be just that—private. Whether we’re conducting surveillance, tracing individuals, investigating complex fraud, or gathering sensitive information, our operations are designed to take place behind the scenes, not centre stage.
Our office? It's where we receive post and formal correspondence—nothing more. We don’t conduct investigations from there, nor do we invite the public in to chat about cases. There are no walk-in consultations or banners outside announcing who we are. For good reason.
Our operators remain deliberately in the shadows. We do not publicise names or faces. The individuals you might see involved in marketing activities—such as our Managing Director or members of the management team—play important roles in maintaining standards, public engagement and accepting client briefings, but they do not conduct field investigations. The operational work is handled exclusively by trained, experienced professionals whose success depends on anonymity.
Why Discretion Matters
Discretion isn’t just a preference—it’s essential to the integrity of any investigation. Drawing attention compromises results. If a subject becomes aware they are being watched or investigated, the value of the intelligence is instantly diminished, and the risk to all parties involved increases.
In some lines of work, visibility might bring prestige or status. In ours, it can bring scrutiny, sabotage, or worse—failure. And we don’t accept failure.
Our clients rely on us to protect not only their information, but often their reputations, livelihoods, and safety. That’s a responsibility we take seriously.
The Stereotype vs. The Reality
We know the image the public holds of private/covert investigators: trench coats, bourbon, a faint cloud of cigarette smoke, and gravel-voiced monologues delivered to empty rooms.
And yes, some of the stereotypes aren't entirely off-base—this line of work does often deal in secrets, treachery, and the messier side of human behaviour. But there’s also a professionalism that rarely makes it into the movies.
We don’t carry hip flasks or deliver melodramatic one-liners. We don’t chase suspects down alleys or slam fists on desks. What we do is observe. Document. Analyse. Wait. And when necessary, act—quietly, legally, ethically and effectively.
Guarding Our Reputation by Protecting Yours
Our low profile isn’t accidental—it’s by design. Every decision we make, from who we hire to how we operate, is shaped by a commitment to integrity, trust, and confidentiality.
The moment we start making headlines or posting sensational success stories is the moment we can no longer operate as true investigators. Trust takes years to build, and a single slip can destroy it. That’s why we don’t take shortcuts. We let results—not publicity—speak for us.
So, if you’ve never heard of us before today, that’s fine by us.
If you’re looking for someone who understands the value of silence, the power of subtlety, and the importance of getting it right without getting noticed—you’ve found the right people.
Private Investigations in Song and Truth
Mark Knopfler’s haunting lyrics from Dire Straits' 1982 track Private Investigations capture some of the darkness and complexity that this profession can bring. They speak of treason, excuses, long nights and, famously, a bottle of whisky at the end of it all.
It's a mystery to me, the game commences
For the usual fee, plus expenses
Confidential information, is in a diary
This is my investigation, it's not a public inquiry
I go checking out the reports, digging up the dirt
You get to meet all sorts in this line of work
Treachery and treason, there's always an excuse for it
And when I find the reason, I still can't get used to it
And what have you got, at the end of the day?
What have you got to take away?
A bottle of whisky and a new set of lies
Blinds on the windows and a pain behind the eyes
Scarred for life, no compensation
Private investigations
While the imagery is poetic and the sentiments relatable to many in the trade—let’s be clear: none of us here are whisky drinkers :)
But everything else? The digging, the discretion, the detachment? That’s our reality.
