Whistle-blower, whistleblower, informant, witness... whatever term you prefer, it refers to a person (usually a worker) making a disclosure of information which they reasonably believe shows wrongdoing or someone covering up wrongdoing. Workers who blow the whistle are entitled to protections, which were introduced through the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 (PIDA).

Sadly, many people who wish to report incidents of concern are deterred due to the threat of job loss or dismissal. When a worker views an instance of wrongdoing in the workplace, they fear reprisals if they report the issue internally.

We have helped clients who have come to us seeking assistance. With information provided by these clients, we are able to undertake an investigative operation to gather evidence of an allegation. We are able to protect the client to an extent, until the information has been investigated and compiled into an evidence dossier to be handed to relevant authorities. Acting as a buffer to protect those whom wish to speak out enables workers to raise issues. Some of the clients whom have used SIASS Whistleblower services have felt powerless to challenge the authority of employers. They may feel guilty that they have witnessed wrongdoing in their workplace and failed to challenge it openly. Many feel that the reporting options open to them in their workplace aren't sufficient to protect them.

Some examples of whistleblowing that we have encountered are;

A criminal offence, for example fraud,

witnessing a health and safety issue that has not been rectified,

the company is breaking the law,

Whatever the issue is, contact us, and see if we can offer you evidence gathering solutions.
